Toledo Music History Project
Hey, we built this site to record our local music history. I posted it last night on MySpace and we had a big enough response to crash our server. I figure since the only good music around here comes from BG, I might as well post it on here too.
For a some time now, we've wanted to compile the stories of the Toledo music scene; the bands, the people, the places, and events that have shaped our town. We wanted to make sure that these things are recorded before the information is lost completely. However as we started work on this, it soon became clear just how daunting of a project this is for mere a handful of people. That's why we need your help.
We've set up our own Wikipedia-style website, an open editable database where anyone can share their stories, their bands, and their experiences without even logging in. If we can complete this, we can make sure that the people and bands the made this scene are not forgotten and those people entering it can pick up where they left off. All you need to do is click and start typing.
So please, check out the site. If you like what we are doing, add your two cents and pass the word along so we can get a complete picture of our community. Thanks for taking the time to check this out.
NOTE: Last night, we had a lot of traffic and a lot of new entires and that slowed down our server a great deal, but we think we have that problem solved. Time will tell.

luckily, it takes a great deal of effort to really mess it up and all changes are archived so vandalism can be reversed.

will this info be able to be merged with wikipedia or is it stuck on your shitty server for ever? not sure what the point of this is if you "own" the content

First off, I like my server.
Second, Wikipedia doesn't want to be clogged with this relatively trivial material. They would delete it.
Fourthly, I take the time to set this up so that everyone in Northwest Ohio can have easy access to the people and bands behind our music scene and you accuse me of trying to own it. Are you mad? What the hell would I do with such "ownership"? Charge a fee every time you think of 'the T-Shirts'?
I tried adding a listing about my band on Wikipedia, and they deleted it. Assholes. Goddamn assholes.

Hey Whiney McBitcherson, why don't you register that domain and redirect it to toledowire.com?
if I did all internal links would still say thetoledowire.com because the wiki was set up with those as default. I either would have to back it up, scrap the old site and rebuild it with the new or go through the code and figure out where it stores the root domain address and change that. Neither are things I have time to do right now, but it might make a nice rainy day project.

It's now www.sillycoeds.com and yes we started the site based out of Toledo. We are currently operating out of Florida and Los Angeles but I was at Gatorz last Saturday for EVOL and saw a few hotties I wouldn't mind putting on the site..... ;)

ReelTails was the egg that hatched SillyCoeds.
ReelTails was the original group of guys who started shooting back in the late 90's at spring break and a few local spots like Heath Beach. There was then a merger between them and a company in L.A. (that will remain anonomous) which led to StupidCoeds. After a few months and a few legal issues the StupidCoeds crew renamed to SillyCoeds as it is today. That's the history in a nutshell!
